Isaac and John Maskell (father in law) petition on 24 March 1824 for land on Jeddore Lake and was granted land. He first built a house in East Jeddore for his family but tore it down because he feared it was haunted by ghosts. He rebuilt the house a mile away but tore it down, too. Finally, he built his house a third time near Baker's Point. He was a carpenter but also a justice of the peace according to the Ambrose Church map of Halifax County in 1865.

79 James C Finch was born about 1806 presumably in Upper Canada. His middle name may be Charles (or Curtis?). Was he born in Trafalgar Township? He appears in the militia rolls for the 2nd Regiment of Gore (Trafalgar, Nelson, Flamborough) and petitioned the Clergy Corporation to lease land in Trafalgar Township in 1832.

Sometime in the 1830s he relocated to Seneca Township in Haldimand County. Seneca is listed as the birthplace for his children on various records. The family lived on a farm on Lot 1 in the 2nd Range East of the Plank Road (modern day Highway 6). He appears in the 1861 census in Seneca.
